The sons, stepsons, and grandchildren (both genders) of masons, since they are between 7 and 14 years of age, may be adopted. In adopting these youngsters the Masonic Lodge, assumes the obligation of serving them as tutors and guides in social life. The Lowton, has the right to assistance and Masonic protection, through the Brethren of the Lodge that gave the adoption, and if male, and to be initiated in Masonry at the age of 18.
